My favourite Lord Of The Rings book is 'The Hobbit'.This book is the first of tolkien's ongoing adventures through middle earth,and from this you can be taught the ancient dwarvish language and runes.This book is focused mainly on a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who ventures off one day with his good wizard friend 'Gandalf' and several dwarves towards the lonely mountain to find 'smaug' the dragon.

'The Fellowship Of The Ring' DVD & VHS
'The Lord Of The Rings' DVD & VHS can now be purchased from selected stores accross the world,but if you are english then i don't suggest you buy it from japan so that you can't understand what they're saying.(unless you speak japanese)
Anyway a quick tip: If you have a DVD player or a computer that plays DVD's then BUY THE LOTR DVD! because it consists of two disks that have loads of really cool behind the scenes info on the upcoming 'The Two Towers' film and loads on the 'Fellowship Of The Ring' film.
BUY IT!!!!! cos you won't regret it!

J.R.R.Tolkien was born in south africa in 1892.After serving as a lieutenant in WW1,he had a distunguished academic career and was recognised as one of the finest philologists in the world (philology is the study of literature).He held numerous professorships,and was awarded many prestigious prizes,and although his stories still live on today he sadly died in 1973.
